Guest JPHomeDesign
I have an employee with a 24 year old dependent on her plan. The 24 year old is about to become a mother and they want to know if the baby can be added to the plan. Employee pays 80%, employer pays 20%. Is employer still on the hook? GMK
Q12 of this: http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/faqs/faq-dependentcoverage.html says employers are not required to offer coverage for children of children.
leevena
GMK is correct, but please check your plan documents for the definition of a dependent. It is possible that your company has elected to offer coverage down to this level...highly unlikely but well worth the 5 minutes it will take for you to research.
