Benefits 101 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 So in 403b plan documents, why do we have to enter a "normal retirement age" between 62-65? Employees can take plan assets at 59.5 So it is somewhat of a meaningless requirement, no? Does it have any significance?
Tom Poje Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 one possibility: if there are employer contributions (e.g. match) and they are subject to vesting, it would make a difference since 100% vesting kicks in at normal retirement.

Ahhh, thank you. But without employer contributions, it seems to be meaningless, right?
