Floridaattorney Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Does the Irs publish or, does anyone else publish a listing or summary of corrective actions that have been approved in the VCP program. The EPCRS guidance is certainly helpful. However, there are many situations and fact patterns which just arent covered in there. It would be very helpful to have more examples of what would be appropriate correction methods.
ETA Consulting LLC Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 The best you have is the streamline processes. From there, each case is different; despite their similarities with other cases. Good Luck! CPC, QPA, QKA, TGPC, ERPA
ESOP Guy Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 I would add while I have limited experiance with VCP filing what I have found is they tend to accept just about any reasonable fix. I have seen cases where there was EPCRS guidence and the proposed solution was reasonable but not as expensive as EPCRS would have you do. The VCP solution was accepted by the IRS. I get the impression the people who approve VCPs have rather broad discresion. So if you have a particular problme you might want to propose a solution that is reasonable and see what happens. I realize some people might want to know their solution will be accepted but I am not sure you really can know that.
ETA Consulting LLC Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 I'm with ESOP guy on this one. Sometime you propose a reasonable solution, but still have to wait for it to get accepted before implementing it. This is the nature of many filings that do not fall under the streamline filings. Good Luck! CPC, QPA, QKA, TGPC, ERPA
