Guest Dook Posted September 18, 1999 Posted September 18, 1999 Has anyone found a vendor that has a program for calculating and testing allocation formulas? We are not really interested in a full blown administrative package. More of just a calculator for determining allocations and testing the allocations for 401(a)(4) compliance.
John A Posted October 14, 1999 Posted October 14, 1999 Dook, I wish I had an answer for you. We're looking for the same thing. Short of finding stand-alone cross-testing software, does anyone know of a relatively inexpensive larger package that includes cross-testing capabilities. So far, DATAIR seems to come the closest to us. Other ideas? Thanks.
Guest JF Posted October 15, 1999 Posted October 15, 1999 There is a guy named Marco Brown out of SFO that has a standalone package to do crosstesting allocations. His company is called Flexsoft. Its not too much $ but seems to do the basic calculations you need for proposal purposes. I think he also has a product to do the proposals online. Their web site is: http://www.flex-soft.com (I am not connected to them in any way, but I saw their demo at NIPA last May)
Ervin Barham Posted October 15, 1999 Posted October 15, 1999 Sounds like a marketing opportunity for someone. I too would be interested in a standalone cross-tested system. I use Benetech for proposals, and have heard of Flex-Soft but not used it. Proposal systems generally have not been detailed enough for me to trust them for anything other than proposals. I do know that Datair works, but I'm not real crazy about the rest of the allocation system or the fact that it's DOS based. Quantech supposedly has upgraded the capability of doing the testing, but I haven't tested it recently. I have developed my own spreadsheet for smaller clients that I do consulting, but it's not ready to be shrink-wrapped.
Guest Posted October 20, 1999 Posted October 20, 1999 FYI, since Quantech was mentioned. I am a user, not connected with Quantech/Corbel. with the latest release, Quantech has added the ability to perform the nondiscrimination testing with statutory exclusions. I use it practically everyday, as we do a lot of backoffice work. The nondiscrimination system performs well, you have access to all allowable mortality tables and interest rates, it allows for imputing permitted disparity and testing on an allocation or accrual basis. With all the complicated plans we test, it gets the job done. please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need more information. Guest CAM Posted November 7, 1999 Posted November 7, 1999 You might try Basharat "BJ" Javaid, EA, M.A.A.A. out of San Diego. I know he has a stand alone cross-testing program. I believe the price was $1,000. I've been told it's very good although I have not personally used it. I believe it's good for both proposals and annual testing. Like some of the others, I'm currently using Benetech for proposals but I'm presently reviewing Pensiononline.com, a vendor I recently found on this website; however, it is also just a proposal system.
