Guest Beth Posted September 16, 1998 Posted September 16, 1998 I'd like to know if there are some sites or reference books I can look in to get supporting surveys for 401(k) Plans. I have client with a top-paid participant who is upset that they changed from strictly Profit Sharing to 401(k) Profit Sharing. He would like supporting surveys of the # of companies who have 401(k) Plans versus Profit Sharing or Pension. Thanks.
Larry M Posted September 16, 1998 Posted September 16, 1998 Some sources are: EBRI, Spencer's, and the major consulting firms Hewitt, Mercer, Towers Perrin, Wyatt. the dol may have a count of types of plans on its web site. On the other hand, if there is a top paid employee who is unhappy with the change, some hand holding may be better than supplying statistics which show other top paid people were treated as badly (his/her perception). and remember, a 401(k) plan IS a profit sharing plan with the added featur of allowing the employee to contribute additional funds.
Guest KarenW Posted October 6, 1998 Posted October 6, 1998 Maybe that top-paid employee would be a good candidate for nonqualified deferred comp arrangement? At least his ADP would go to zero and make tests pass easier for other ees.
