Jim Chad Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 My understanding is that there is a choice between filing an SF electronically with the EFAST on a public wesite or an EZ on paper. We are a CPA firm. So, we file more than 250 forms per year. But I don't like the idea of filing the form on a public website. Can I prepare the form 5500EZ and have the client mail the paper form to the IRS?
BG5150 Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I don't think 1-participant plans (properly indicated on the SF) are shown on the DOL website. QKA, QPA, CPC, ERPATwo wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left.
Bird Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 I don't think 1-participant plans (properly indicated on the SF) are shown on the DOL website. Agree. Once they came out with the SF/1 participant option, we started using it. Doing electronic filing for those folks, some of the most disorganized clients, is a godsend. Ed Snyder
Tom Poje Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 agree, the 5500 ez files as a one-participant plan SF does not appear on the DOL website. in addition, by filing electronically you receive confirmation that the form has reached its destination. unless you pay extra for certified mail you have no such confirmation. even the IRS encourages people to file the EZ electronically as a one participant SF too many reasons not to file that way, certainly more convenient in my opinion
