OK Dave, I'll do my 5 min. worth of work:

Naturally, there's the Internet Healthcare Coalition;

Then there's the National Coalition on Healthcare ,

The National Business Coalition on Health ,

and

the Health Benefits Coalition.

The Coalition for Quality Patient Care is another.

Regionally, there's

The New York Business Group on Health,

The Washington Business Group on Health, and

The Pacific Business Group on Health, to name just three.

And let's not forget

The Employer Quality Partnership.

Few of these sites contain references to one another; perhaps someone will volunteer to make introductions?

Any way to 'bulk upload' this stuff to the library? I'm too slow a typist to deal with it myself.

Dave:

Besides our own website http:www.hhco.org

I would recommend pulling the list of coalition websites from the National Business

Group on Health web page. It's listed under

Membership Information if I recall correctly.

They have one of the most extensive lists.

Dave:

Excuse me....its the National Business

Coalition on Health (NBCH) and they are linked to our web site.

Thanks Pete for your response. Two of the coalitions you mentioned are also linked through the National Business Coalition on Health (NBCH) web site. The Ohio coalition is not. NBCH currently has approximately 100

coalitions in their membership.....including ours.....and about 1/3 of those have web sites linked to the NBCH web site. There are however, some coalitions throughout the U.S. that are not members of NBCH.

That's right. At the IFEBP we have tended to focus our efforts on assisting coalitions with multiemployer(Taft-Hartley labor-management fund)members because the multiemployer funds are typically members of the IFEBP. There are about 22 we are aware of, and probably a few more we haven't heard from. They are largely a separate group from the NBCH members, although that isn't always the case. The New Jersey coalition is a good example of one that has a mix of multiemployer and single corporate members. The Detroit Area Health Council may be unique in the way that it serves as an umbrella group for affiliated corporate, public sector and multiemployer fund coalitions. These two are active with both the IFEBP and the NBCH, which are not in any way in competition with one another.

Folks:

I know in Texas, a law was passed a few years ago, allowing coalitions.

These entities are considered as a single employer, and must be fully insured.

Is this law in Texas similar to your experiences with coalitions in other states?
