shERPA Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Too funny, makes me feel old! I carry stuff uphill for others who get all the glory.
Mike Preston Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Cool. I used the same file in my presentation to ACOPA in 2017. The audience got a kick out of it. Dave Baker 1
Bill Presson Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 I still remember the joy of upgrading from my 4800 baud modem to a 14.4kb modem and it was screaming. It would upload the answer packet and download the new message packet and I was golden for another evening of trying to keep the hell up. Dave Baker 1 William C. Dave Baker Posted October 22, 2020 Author Posted October 22, 2020 Oh, 14.4k! Gawd, faster than a 9600, and already at 9600 one can hardly keep up with the type as it scrolls across the screen. Mine was a Practical Peripherals -- I can't bear to get rid of it. I'll take a photo! I remember my 2400 baud modem, which had a little green light on the front that lit up behind the silhouette of a rabbit, when the modem was able to negotiate a 9600 baud connection with the other modem! High-speed, man, look out. Bill Presson 1
Bill Presson Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 I just found out that Lou Filliger passed away last August. If you spent more than a day on PIX, you would remember him. Strong opinions on just about everything and an incredibly avid hiker. I never got the opportunity to meet him in person and I'm very sad about that. RIP, Lou. William C. shERPA Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 I did not know about Lou, thanks for posting. I first met him when he was working for Brian Demsey + Associates. RIP. Bill Presson 1 I carry stuff uphill for others who get all the glory.
Mike Preston Posted May 4, 2021 Posted May 4, 2021 Very sorry to hear this. Lou and I went way back. All the way to the same dorm at the University of Michigan. Rest in peace. Bill Presson 1
