Guest DawnS
I've checked pub. 502 and did not get an answer....does anyone know if laser surgery to correct eyesight is a covered expense for a medical reimbursement account?
Lisa Hand
Yes, it is to treat and correct a medical condition - your poor eyesight, just like glasses, contacts or cataract surgery are eligible. Just a side note: if you plan to do any mountain climbing or other high altitude recreation, carefully check the procedure you are looking at and question your eye specialist about the effects at altitude. One of the climbers on Everest in 1996, Beck Weathers, had a majority of his problems because the RK surgery had rendered him almost blind at altitude.
