Guest Ted H Munice Posted March 27, 2001 Posted March 27, 2001 Does anyone know of a good program that generates actuarial conversion factors and annuity factors?
David MacLennan Posted March 28, 2001 Posted March 28, 2001 There's an american actuary in Japan that offers a free shareware program. I've used it a couple of times many years ago and it works. The interface is not very user friendly though. You will want to have a few known factors on hand and try to duplicate them as a way to figure out how the program works. Search on "Lohmann International Associates" and his site will come up.
david rigby Posted March 28, 2001 Posted March 28, 2001 Most pension actuaries have such programs, and the skill and experience to know how and when to apply them. Perhaps you should consider hiring an actuary. If your need is very simple, IRS Reg. 1.72 contains certain tables that might be useful. Some of these can be found in Appendix E of IRS Publication 590 http://www.irs.gov/forms_pubs/pubs.html I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
Guest Posted March 29, 2001 Posted March 29, 2001 We created our own using Lotus/Excel. It's really not that difficult to create the Nx's & Dx's if you have the q's. You may want to consider having an actuary do this for you if you don't have someone on staff who knows how to do it.
LIBOR Posted March 29, 2001 Posted March 29, 2001 I would recommend contacting one of software houses such as Blaze,Datair,orASC to see if they'd sell you a stand alone rate generation module; what you really need to generate factors is a program (Fortran or even maybe Lotus Script); you can develop your own factors using a spreadsheet but it gets very cumbersome when you attempt, for example,to do J&S factors for all age combinations; within a program you can just "loop" through the ages - good luck !
Guest Doug Goelz Posted March 30, 2001 Posted March 30, 2001 I have two versions of a stand alone program that I wrote and will send you if you e-mail me. Not to sound out of line, but both are much better than the one you can download from the gentleman in Japan. One is written in C and is a DOS-based program. The other is a Windows-based version written in Visual Basic.
