Guest pension222 Posted April 17, 2001 Posted April 17, 2001 I received a call today about a pension plan that was "terminated" back in 1993. The person who called me said that he is not sure that a PBGC Form 500 had ever been filed. Is there any way to anonymously check (maybe via the internet) to see if the PGCG ever received this filing?
RCK Posted April 19, 2001 Posted April 19, 2001 I don't think so, and that's based on two ideas: I don't know about one, and I don't think that PBGC filings are public information. The 5500 filings are public information, and that is why sites such as freeerisa.com can function. I don't think that PBGC filings are public.
Guest Jim Hunzelman Posted April 19, 2001 Posted April 19, 2001 Actually, I think freeerisa.com does include an inventory of DB plans that filed with PBGC for termination, but I think the inventory only goes back a year or two. I looked at this once and, as I recall, all that freeerisa.com has is an inventory style listing of the plans, not the actual forms that have been filed. I suspect that a 1993 filing would have long since scrolled off the list.
