SSRRS Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 What are the ramifications, if efiled without the SB and then amend a couple of days later to include the SB? Thank you!
Nate S Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Without the SB you run the risk of having the filing disallowed and incurring late filing penalties. Once amended to include, you're all set! SSRRS 1
SSRRS Posted February 17, 2023 Author Posted February 17, 2023 Thanks so much Nate. If on the first filing (without the SB), on the 5500-SF, the form SB was not checked off as being required, in the interim, until the filing is amended to include the sb, would that help?
thepensionmaven Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 We had this happen, file an anended to include SB, no problem yet. I think once you file completely, you're OK. SSRRS 1

Draper55 Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 An incomplete return can be considered not filed...I would check amended and file also...if you met the deadline clearly no problem... SSRRS 1

I think once you file completely, you're OK. Thabk you again.. Is there a time frame to file an amended return that includes the SB, to avoid the IRS sending the client a letter, re the missing SB. Meaning, does the IRS not send a letter before 15 days or so, or is there no way to know this and just amend asap and hope that it was amended prior to it being picked up? Thank you.
Nate S Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 ASAP. The EBSA manually reviews all filings with attachments for confidential information within a few days of the filing. SSRRS 1
