Sunny Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Mine is a TPA firm, XYZ Pension and having Datair Pension Reporter software to e-file 5500 form. Now, I am starting another company ABC Pension. Question: Can I mention ABC Pension on Sch. SB with Actuary name and e-file 5500 for DB plan using the XYZ Pension’s software. Thanks for your time and helping me.
Lou S. Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I don't see any problem with what you are saying. The SB will report the name of actuary and company signing the SB, which software you use to file the form doesn't matter. Bri 1
david rigby Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Although not directly related to your filing question, who is paying for the software? Specifically, are the clients of XYZ subsidizing the clients of ABC? I'm a retirement actuary. Nothing about my comments is intended or should be construed as investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Occasionally, but not all the time, it might be reasonable to interpret my comments as actuarial or consulting advice.
Peter Gulia Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Consider reading carefully the software license agreement to discern whether XYZ has or lacks a right to let ABC use the software. Or, after finding and recognizing all facts that might be involved, consider whether ABC would use the software. This is not advice to anyone.
