Belgarath Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 Rather shocking. We were asked to clean up a non-compliant plan. Just submitted an uncomplicated VCP filing in mid-October for failure to timely adopt a PPA document. Received IRS Compliance Statement already! Since I'm always quick to bash the IRS for taking too long, I have to give them kudos for doing this one so fast! Never had one turn around in 4 weeks previously. Bill Presson 1

Don't worry; it was a mistake and won't happen again. That employee has been terminated! With extreme prejudice!!!!! MoJo, Bill Presson and John Feldt ERPA CPC QPA 2 1 Lawrence C. Bob the Swimmer Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 When I raised the concern about late filing responses from IRS in the past year to several speakers at the ALI-CLE October conference, one of the conference co-chairs said they received a response back in one month. Must be the same IRS employee---to Larry's point, probably gone by now.
EBECatty Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 We had a similar situation a few weeks ago. We have had several VCP applications pending for over a year now, but submitted a late amender (failure to restate for EGTRRA and PPA) and had the signed compliance letter back in about a week. The still-pending applications are more individualized with non-safe-harbor correction requests. The late amender submission was on a Form 14568-B. I assumed that was the difference.
imchipbrown Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Yep. Submitted a non-amender PPA on 11/17 and got compliance letter 12/12! Just in time to transfer/terminate before 12/31.
shERPA Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Still have one pending that was submitted August 2018 - very simple, wasn't even assigned until July of this year. Got some questions back in September (that indicated the reviewer didn't understand it). Responded right away, since then - crickets. I carry stuff uphill for others who get all the glory.
Christine Roberts Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 I have left several messages on the VCP status line the IRS posts online (626) 927-2011 over the past several months and have never received a follow up call. The line seems to have gone dark since they switched to electronic submission. Any different experiences out there? Any other suggestions on how to check status of an application?
