VCP status inquiry line

I submitted a VCP last October and have left several messages on the status inquiry line over the last few months with no response/call-back from the IRS.  Has anyone else had this issue?  Just wondering what the average turn-around for VCPs is given COVID, etc.

Just received a closing agreement back - took 10 months.  I think it was 8 months before it was assigned to an agent. Once assigned, it got moving.  

Our policy - never ever ever "poke the bear."  They take the time they take, and when agitated it usually isn't a pleasant experience.  That said, it appears 6-10 months is now the normal - and that's down from 10-18 months a couple of years ago.

I generally agree with the above timelines, although I will say that there seems to be a significant amount of variability.  Our most recent submission took 5 months.  I actually managed to turn one around in a month in mid-2019.  I almost fell out of my chair when it came back that fast. 

Madison is right though...  The vast majority of the timeline is just waiting for it to get assigned.
