Guest LJWhite Posted November 16, 2001 Posted November 16, 2001 A question was raised regarding mandatory employee education for 401(k) plans. The information I received is that there is a 2 hour per year requirement, found under Code 791. I have not been successful in locating any code regarding mandatory employee education. Has anyone heard of such a requirement?
Jon Chambers Posted November 16, 2001 Posted November 16, 2001 Never heard of Code 791, or mandatory education. Are you referring to education for plan participants or for plan service providers? It could be some sort of continuing professional education requirement relating to service providers only. I can tell you that the 404© regs specifically provide that education is not required for plan participants. Jon C. Chambers Schultz Collins Lawson Chambers, Inc. Investment Consultants
