Disclosure of Eligibility to Participants - Is it sufficient to have an employee sign for Receipt of an Employee Handbook at the time of hire? Even if they do not become eligible for 12 - 18 months after hire?

Distribution of the Summary Plan Description is required within 90 days of an individual becoming eligible for participation. The SPD is generally a much longer description of the plan than is contained in an employee handbook.
