Guest caroline84 Posted April 15, 2002 Posted April 15, 2002 I have read several articles that say some employers are hesitant to include the new catch-up contribution language in their plan because there are nearly "two dozen states" that don't automatically conform to federal laws, one of which is California and these contributions could be subject to the state income tax. How do I find out what the other states are?
MGB Posted April 15, 2002 Posted April 15, 2002 Updated through 3/8/02 (as states introduce or pass new legislation, it is updated): http://www.americanbenefitscouncil.org/iss...stateupdate.htm Or, go to their site (www.americanbenefitscouncil.org), click on issues on the left, then retirement, then state issues. That page has a link to this document along with other specific documents on individual state updates as they occur.
MWeddell Posted April 15, 2002 Posted April 15, 2002 According to an American Benefits Council call last week, only one state (Indiana maybe, I don't recall for sure) has passed legislation removing itself from the list. Otherwise, the March list continues to be up to date.
Guest ndt123 Posted April 18, 2002 Posted April 18, 2002 Iowa and Maine are both conforming as of a week or so ago.
Guest rmeigs Posted April 18, 2002 Posted April 18, 2002 The list of nonconforming states as of April 2 included: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Massachusetts, North Carolina, South Carolina and Wisconsin.
Guest pcjackson Posted April 25, 2002 Posted April 25, 2002 The conforming legislation for KY was signed by the Gov on 4/24/2002 SC was signed by the Gov on 4/22/02 so both of these states should be removed from the list of nonconforming states.
Guest Dook Posted April 25, 2002 Posted April 25, 2002 Can anyone confirm if Iowa, Maine, Kentucky and South Carolina passed retroactive conformity laws? Thanks!
