R. Butler Posted February 20, 2003 Posted February 20, 2003 We were hit with a pretty significant ice storm, power has been out since Saturday evening an many areas. Who would Plan Sponsor's contact about requesting extensions for 3/15 deadlines? Since they can always extend a tax return, we are probably more concerned with the ADP/ACP deadline. We don't want to get with the 10% penalty.
jquazza Posted February 28, 2003 Posted February 28, 2003 There is no such thing, you can apply for a waiver of the penalty and explain your power situation to the IRS a posteriori. /JPQ
R. Butler Posted February 28, 2003 Author Posted February 28, 2003 Thanks for your reply. We contacted our Congressman. The IRS replied that if the area was officially declared a disaster area, that the IRS may issue an extension for the zip codes affected. Otherwise they suggested as you did. FEMA was here Monday, so we should know something in the near future, but we're planning on meeting the 3/14 deadline.
