Guest jkrad Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 Does the plan have to provide a copy of the policy investment statement to participants? If not, do they need to provide a copy if it is requested?
Guest rmeigs Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 To the best of my knowledge, the IPS is not a document that the plan sponsor is required to make available to plan participants, even if requested by a participant. Here is a link to a DOL document that has a list and description of the documents that must be made available: http://www.401khelpcenter.com/dol/know2.htm
Jon Chambers Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 To answer your question directly, no, and no (at least not without litigation/subpoena). But why wouldn't the employer want to share a well-constructed IPS with an employee that requests a copy? Jon C. Chambers Schultz Collins Lawson Chambers, Inc. Investment Consultants
