Guest Wolves1962 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I learned recently that a lot of fees were being paid for services that were not needed. We are submitting a plan we aquired, how many of you know the fee structure for the form? Any help would be appreciated
WDIK Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I'm not sure I understand what you are asking, but the Form 8717 indicates the applicable fee based upon the form that is being filed and what determinations are to be made. For example, a request for a determination that the plan satisfies the average benefits test (Demo 5) or a general test (Demo 6) requires the higher fee. Is that what you are looking for? ...but then again, What Do I Know?
Guest Wolves1962 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Thanks for the reply, what I was looking for was not too long ago at a meeting I was told that most TPA's are charging when they shouldn't be. So, if there are under 100 ees and the plan was established after 12, 1989 the fee is waved still?
Blinky the 3-eyed Fish Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I too see many TPA's requesting user fees from clients. I came across one case where the attorney was using an individually designed document and wanted the client to pony up the user fee to the tune of $1,250 or whatever the non-exempt fee is. The exemption continues to apply as defined in the 8717 instructions. "What's in the big salad?" "Big lettuce, big carrots, tomatoes like volleyballs."
