Lori H
I am a little confused. I've read that 403(b) plans are subject to the automatic rollover of mandatory distribution rules. If the participant already owns the contract what would there be to rollover? Thanks for the help.
Guest mjb
There is no need to transfer 403(b) annuity account balances to an IRA and some fund sponsors ( TIAA-CREF) do not provide for automatic rollover to an IRA because there is no automatic cashout out from a T/C annuity if the account balance is $5,000 or less. However, some fund families provide the same automatic rollover provisions for 403(b) plans that are available for qualified plans because the plan provides for automatic cashout if the account balance is 5k or less.
