Guest jetfaninmn Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 I know what can come into a 401(k) plan, but can a 401(k) distribution be rolled over into a Roth IRA? Mike
jevd Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Not until 2008. PPA will allow for plan years after 2007. Until then, you must rollover to a traditional IRA and then convert to a ROTH IRA. You also need a distribution event from the 401(k)> JEVD Making the complex understandable.
doombuggy Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I just had a client ask me the same question. They have a former EE who wanted to roll her $218.29 401(k) pre-tax account balance into a Roth IRA. I will let him know that this former EE will need to take her money som other way. Thanks!
