Guest edelain Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Hello, For school, I need to write a 20-page paper on any ERISA topic. Most my current knowledge is in the pension portion of ERISA and I would like to write my paper in that realm. However, I cannot think of a topic worth 20 pages of discussion. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, Eric
namealreadyinuse Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 The PPA is huge. An article on the historical problems with providing investment advice and how that is impacted by the PPA is a suggestion. Also, mutual fund mapping is affected by the PPA and that is pretty interesting.
JanetM Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Tracing the history of plan design and employee communication/education? Early days it was ER directed balance forward plans and no participant interaction to total EE directed plans. You could get 20 pages on that if you covered the asset/investment angle, the shift from PP/MPPPs to 401k, and the shift in responsibility for decisions. JanetM CPA, MBA
Lame Duck Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 You could also consider the history of defined benefit plans, both in the large employer and small employer market.
Guest Pensions in Paradise Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 You might get 20 pages just defining all of the acronyms that have been used since ERISA
