Lori H Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 An attorney has both a 401K and an IRA, can he take his RMD from one source based on the total account value in both or does it have to come from each? Thanks
masteff Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Can't mix and match types of plans. The 401(k) has to satisfy its own MRD (can't even use another 401(k) to satify it). You can use one IRA to satisfy another IRA (which is why the question generally comes up at all).
