We have a client who has a defined benefit plan and is looking to add a 401(k) profit sharing plan. As the assets for the 401(k) are separately accounted for and investing is segregated, they are interested in placing the profit sharing and defined benefit plan assets in the same 401(a) trust. Can this be done? I don't see a problem legally, yet . . . Appreciate your thoughts.
