Guest CTB Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 A qualified plan issued a 2006 1099-R in January 2007 to a participant that took a full distribution in 2006. The 2006 1099-R was marked as "eligible for rollover." The plan discovered in 2008 that the distribution was not eligible for distribution. Can the plan issue a 2008 1099-R to correct the 2006 1099-R it previously issued? Many thanks, CTB
Guest Sieve Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I think you file a corrected 1099-R for the year of the changed data (i.e., 2006). See page 6 of the instructions: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1099r.pdf
