CJS07 Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Have a new plan in 2008 which utilizes Top Paid Group. None of the employees are owners. Only one employee made over 100k while working for the Company last year. One person times 20% equals point 2 - can I round my top paid group down to zero?
Cynchbeast Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Top-paid group is top 20% of employees, ranked by earnings, not the top 20% of people otherwise classified as HCE. So your top paid group would be 20% of the total number of employees, and you would have to round up.
Mike Preston Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Don't think you *have* to round up. You can do "whatever" as long as you are consistent. But rounding up may be the most conservative thing to do, whether you have to or not. And it isn't really 20% of all employees. There are certain exclusions. Gotta look it up to get it right.
