Guest caseyb Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Does anyone have experience working with primerica as an investment advisor on a retirement plan? My impression of them has always been one of aggressive marketing tactics, usually to consumers with less than ideal credit. An arm of the company that works with plan sponsors on plan advisory services is unfamiliar to me. Thanks.
four01kman Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 My recollection of Primerica is that of an insurance company, not an investment advisor. A particular representative may be able to render investment advice, if they are appropriately registered. Jim Geld
K2retire Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I've known a couple of people who were Primerica advisors. They are primarily a multilevel marketing arrangement that sells life insurance and finanacial planning. Some, but not all, of their people are also registered to sell securities. Typically the focus more on selling insurance and recruiting new sales people than anything else. I've not heard of any of them advising plans. Like many other sales oriented organizations, the quality of service and advice will vary from one sales person to the next.
GBurns Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 When last I looked, it was not Primerica doing the advising, it was their Broker Dealer which at that time was Smith Barney. It also could be provided by any one of the investment providers they represent such as MetLife, Pioneer, Invesco, Legg Mason, Van Kampen etc. George D.
