Dazednconfused Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Medical office with about 25 ee's and 6 doc's, wants x-tested plan, however, a few doctors do not want to fund anything but the min and of course a few doctors want to fund the max. How / what would be the best option of classes for the doctors? The ee's are going to be in two classes - staff and management. Thanks in advance.

Classify each doctor who is an HCE individually, in his or her own group. But you can't honor individual decisions between more compensation/earnings and more benefit accruals--these have to be company decisions. Otherwise you would have a disguised and most likely nonqualified CODA. John Simmons johnsimmonslaw@gmail.com Note to Readers: For you, I'm a stranger posting on a bulletin board. Dazednconfused Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 Thanks! That's somewhat what I thought but then I would like to try and id two - three doc groups to avoid the doctors thinking that they could 'individually' choose there funding rates... Could I use Doctor group A, B? Doesn't seem likely. Thanks,
Dazednconfused Posted April 27, 2010 Author Posted April 27, 2010 I thought the classes had to be determinable (or something to that nature), if so, Doctor Group A, seems a bit 'grey'. Just wondering, I am perfectly happy putting those groups in the document Thanks!
Mike Preston Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Yes, by reading the document alone you will need to know which doctors are in which groups.
AndyH Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Perhaps they could be classified by their personalities? A stands for ____
BG5150 Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 We've structured plans with classes like: Employees hired in 1992 born after 1958 and before 1960. So, maybe classifying the doctors like that would be okay, rather than by name. However, you'd have to amend the plan every time a new doctor was hired. QKA, QPA, CPC, ERPATwo wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left.
BG5150 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 Couldn't each doctor be in their own class? I guess. But what happens if a Doctor leaves, or if one joins? Would you have to amend the plan each time? Or is "Each doctor in his or her own class" sufficient? QKA, QPA, CPC, ERPATwo wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left.
