Flyboyjohn
Without the handy-dandy search tools we have for ERISA plans (EFAST2, freeERISA, Larkspur, etc.) how do you go about finding a list of governmental plans in your area?
QDROphile
Many government entities have websites that describe their benefit plans. You might have to go to the hiring page and the descriptions are typically not technical. For example, the site might inform that the employees participate in the public employees retirement system. Government plans tend not to report, so lists are not easliy compiled from reports.
eeyore
Some states do have bodies that maintain lists of all the governmental plans in the state. For example, there are the Texas Pension Review Board and the Florida Department of Management Services. Also keep in mind that many states have a single state-wide plan that covers most or all municipalities and school districts.
Carol V. Calhoun
At least for the statewide systems, there is a page on my site that will show you the plans for each state. Here's a link.
