R. Butler Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Plan sponsors filed their taxes based on cash basis deposits. Turns out they owed a somehwta sif=gnifican tmatching contribution to a couple of employees. Plan sponsor does not want to pay to have the tax return amended and will deduct on the 2014 return. Will they count as annual additions for 2014 now? Thanks in advance for any guidance.
Lou S. Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 If made within 30 days of the tax filing deadline they count as 2013 annual additions. ETA Consulting LLC 1
ETA Consulting LLC Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 True. There is also an exception if the contribution was missed due to an oversight. Hence, it's a non-issue on both fronts. It's a 2013 annual addition. However, it will not be deductible until 2014 (unless you're on a tax filing extension). Good Luck! CPC, QPA, QKA, TGPC, ERPA
