Jon Chambers Posted May 13, 2000 Posted May 13, 2000 I'm interested in acquiring survey data that provides information about the investment practices of large (more than $1 billion in assets) DB plans. To what extent do these plans use separately managed accounts, commingled trusts, institutional mutual funds, etc. What are typical (average, high, low, etc.) management expenses under each approach? Anyone have suggestions for good data sources? ------------------ Jon C. Chambers Principal Schultz Collins Lawson Chambers, Inc. (415) 291-3004 Jon C. Chambers Schultz Collins Lawson Chambers, Inc. Guest [Pat M] Posted May 15, 2000 Posted May 15, 2000 If no compiled survey is available for your population of plans, you could go directly to the source of the data on the Form 5500. Visit www.freeerisa.com, call up the plan, get investment proportions from item investments page. Finally, see if the Schedule C lists payments to service providers for investment fees. (Service codes are in the last column, so you can distinguish investment fees from other fees like actuarial fees.)
AndyH Posted June 4, 2000 Posted June 4, 2000 I've tried several times to access the freeerisa.com site without any success. Has the link changed? It's been the subject of a few posts, so if anyone is aware of it's demise or relocation, please advise.
Guest [Pat M] Posted June 6, 2000 Posted June 6, 2000 Sorry, Andy, my link had the comma attached. If you type in www.freeerisa.com on your browser's address line, you'll get there. Pat
Greg Judd Posted June 6, 2000 Posted June 6, 2000 If you operate under the assumption that nothing's really free, you might try contacting us-- info@biginsights.com or visiting benefits information group--for the same information. Different technique, same potential results. [This message has been edited by Greg Judd (edited 06-06-2000).]
