On my first attempt to e-file and 8955-SSA, I received an email saying the filing was bad. I use Relius Government forms. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should look for problems?

We used a similar fix, but switched to ASC. Now, if we have issues with a filing, we contact ASC and they quickly respond with info on how to fix the filing.

If you can't figure it out on your own, it's probably time for an incident report. Good luck.

Who is the e-mail from? It isn't clear from the question. If IRS I call scam alert. I am not aware of the IRS ever using e-mail to notify people about filing problems. Willing to be told I am wrong in this case but that is my first reaction.

If it is from Reliance then as other are saying ask them.

well, having electronically filed 1099-r through FIRE, I have always received a message something like *GOOD* so I guess I could see the possibility of receiving a message that says *BAD*

like Austin, I use FT Williams and have never had an error after submitting.

before then the possible message under the edit check on FT William might have been

number of people reported as A on page 1 doesn't equal number actually shown on the pages listing the folks

ee coded A but no balance reported, etc

without knowing how Relius does things I can't say more.

great import function on FT for SSA. I created a crystal report to export the date from Relius. what a time saver.

I have a 32 plan MEP on Relius, which ended up with 198 people in total on the SSA

I had this problem once and called the IRS. I found out I had used the wrong TCC when submitting my file (used the one for 1099s when sending 8955s). This was filed through FIRE using an FTW file.
