cpc0506 Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of where you can get free CE credits for ASPPA/ERPA requirements besides from the e-tutor series at John Hancock. We were members of Pension Podcast before Cheryl Morgan's untimely death. With the cost of the annual conference being what it is, we are looking for a lower cost/free option that might be available for credits. Thanks.
WCC Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 I have not found any free ASPPA CE. However, the Western Pension and Benefits Council hosts webinars which are relatively low cost compared to other webinars I have seen. $50 for non members $35 for members. http://westernpension.org
Gadgetfreak Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Your ASPPA credentialed membership has a stipulation that you are deemed to have fulfilled their CE requirements as long as you are current with ERPA. So be careful getting CE credits that are only for ASPPA and not ERPA. http://www.asppa.org/Education/Continuing-Education#who: Quote If you hold the FSPA or MSPA credential, or are an Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA), and are in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and/or the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries (JBEA) with regard to meeting all required CE requirements for your related credential, you are deemed to have satisfied all ASPPA CE requirements. It is your responsibility to provide the necessary verification of this satisfaction to ASPPA, ACOPA, NAPA or NTSA prior to the end of the CE cycle. I am not sure if the quarterly Plan Consultant magazine quizzes are ERPA-eligible. If so, that is a very easy and affordable way to pick up 12 credits a year ($200 @ $50 each): http://www.asppa.org/Resources/Publications/Plan-Consultant-Online/PC-Magazine-Information/CE-Quizzes. ERPA, QPA, QKA
