Ilene Ferenczy Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 Hi, guys-- I seem to have lost my copy of the famous/infamous Jim Holland letter that discussed using the 2/rds rule for life insurance in a DB plan (also known as the envelope method). I have found it discussed in various books, but there's no citation (and i think that's because it was a relatively informal letter and not necessarily binding precedent. Can anyone shoot me a copy of that letter? I need it desperately for an expert witness opinion that i have to send out later today. Thanks so much in advance. My email is ilene@ferenczylaw.com.
Bill Presson Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 I've got the other infamous one, but not that one. Maybe Lance Wallach has it? 😁 William C. Presson, ERPA, QPA, QKA bill.presson@gmail.com C 205.994.4070
Ilene Ferenczy Posted April 12, 2024 Author Posted April 12, 2024 You know, Bill, that I'm talking about the letter you sent me all those years ago, right?
Bill Presson Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 But that one dealt with incidental limits in a DC plan and the impact that rollover funds might play. DB plans were never mentioned. Sorry that I’ve stepped away. I will send it to you this evening. William C. Presson, ERPA, QPA, QKA bill.presson@gmail.com C 205.994.4070

Effen Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 FYI, Jim Holland is still very active on the ACOPA Board. He is working for Cheiron and his email is likely on the SOA site. You could just email him and see if he has a copy.
