Guest Jhagan Posted December 4, 2000 Posted December 4, 2000 Is it now safe to say the 2001 457 contribution limit is $8,500 - everywhere I look still has the pending legislation footnote.
Guest Harvey Carruth Posted December 5, 2000 Posted December 5, 2000 Yes, as verified by the following URL: ftp://ftp.irs.ustreas.gov/pub/irs-news/ir-00-82.pdf
Carol V. Calhoun Posted December 5, 2000 Posted December 5, 2000 The IRS has now announced the official limitations (at the URL shown in Harvey's message), but is still including the footnote. And in theory, they could still be changed if Congress acts on a tax bill this year. In reality, it seems highly improbable that Congress will do so, given the shortness of the remaining session and the fact that passing a budget will take priority.
