R. Butler Posted December 11, 2000 Posted December 11, 2000 We are considering various pension document software. I have heard through the grape vine that there is a program called Doc Man that is very good. Has anyone heard of it? If so, where can I get more information about it? Is it worth the price?
Wessex Posted December 11, 2000 Posted December 11, 2000 I believe Doc Man is McKay Hochman's prototype document generating program.
Alan Simpson Posted December 11, 2000 Posted December 11, 2000 Docman is a McKay Hockman product and you can find more information at http://www.mhco.com or call them at 973-492-1880. I do not currently use Docman, but have done so in the past.
Kirk Maldonado Posted December 11, 2000 Posted December 11, 2000 Alan: What did you think of DOC MAN? Kirk Maldonado
Alan Simpson Posted December 11, 2000 Posted December 11, 2000 It performed like it should have, but that was over 4 years ago so it could have changed since then.
Guest TrustMe401k Posted December 12, 2000 Posted December 12, 2000 We have recently purchased the new version of DocMan. It is an internet version that may be accessed from anywhere at anytime instead of the software being on your actual harddrive. They are still waiting for approval on the GUST doc but everything looks like the system will work very well once the docs have been approved.
Guest michaelv Posted December 12, 2000 Posted December 12, 2000 I've used Docman for a number of years. On the plus side, I like the finished product that is generated and so did my clients. The McKay Hochman support staff is tremendous as well. On the other hand, while entering in the plan information was very user-easy, actually generating and printing the document, SPD, etc. seemed unusually cumbersome and frustrating. Although this may be due to the fact that I did the "generating" far less frequently than others, it took some time for newer employees to get the hang of it as well. However, this issue may go away with the internet version that is being released. All in all, it's definitely worth checking out. I would not hesitate to use it.
R. Butler Posted December 12, 2000 Author Posted December 12, 2000 Thank you for all of your replies. I spoke with McKay & Hochman. Docman does seem like a good program, my only concern is the cost. The maintenance fees are similar, but the initial installation fee is significantly more than the competition. Is the program that much better than Autodoc, Accudraft and the others?
Guest RJM Posted December 19, 2000 Posted December 19, 2000 Like JEHMIG, we've used DOCMAN since 1993 and we're are going with the new internet product 401kPortal. (www.401kPortal.com) Keep in mind that DOCMAN/401kPortal, AUTODOC and the other products are just "delivery" systems for the prototype documents and forms. DOCMAN/401kPortal delivers the McKay Hochman document; AUTODOC delivers the PPD/Corbel document. Both are excellent products. I guess I'm saying that you should consider not only the delivery vehicle but the end product also.
