[Editor's note: Link is to 51 presentation slides from May 18, 2021 webcast] Despite the COVID-19 pandemic that created significant financial uncertainty, the 2021 Retirement Confidence Survey (RCS) found that workers overall remained optimistic about their retirement prospects, with 72 percent of workers expressing confidence in their ability to retire comfortably, up three percentage points from last year. However, not all workers are optimistic about their retirement, in particular those that experienced a job loss or decrease in income as a result of the pandemic. The findings of RCS explore these topics and more on the COVID-19 impact, workplace retirement savings plans, retirees’ spending, and attitudes and experiences with regard to retirement preparations.
