Managing Mental Health Parity Compliance in 2023

Corporate Synergies

Feb. 9, 2023
On-Demand
Webinar

Mental health parity laws require plan sponsors and administrators to provide coverage for mental health and substance use disorders (MH/SUD) equal to medical and surgical coverage. Plan sponsors must also provide regulators, when requested, a “comparative analysis” of the design and application of any nonquantitative treatment limitations (NQTLs) that are imposed on the plan’s MH/SUD benefits.

Government agencies have made the enforcement of these rules a priority in 2023. This poses significant challenges for plan sponsors and administrators. Hear from a panel of ERISA attorneys and benefits compliance experts to learn about:

  • The requirements of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA)
  • DOL, HHS, and IRS guidance on MHPAEA compliance and implementation
  • Agency resources and tools, including the updated self-compliance tool
  • ERISA disclosure requirements for health plans providing MH/SUD benefits
  • DOL compliance enforcement actions and settlements and how to best handle health plan audits
