2021 TIAA Paul A. Samuelson Award Ceremony

Issued by TIAA Institute

Jan. 7, 2022

On Jan. 7, 2022, we announced the winners of the 2021 TIAA Paul A. Samuelson Award for Outstanding Scholarly Writing on Lifelong Financial Security. This year the judges chose Pascal Noel, University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and Peter Ganong, University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, for their paper “Liquidity versus Wealth in Household Debt Obligations: Evidence from Housing Policy in the Great Recession” published in American Economic Review 2020, 110(10): 3100–3138.

Named in honor of the Nobel Prize-winning economist and former CREF Trustee, the Samuelson Award is presented annually by the TIAA Institute to recognize research that helps advance Americans’ financial well-being. To learn more about the award and its past recipients, who include four Nobel laureates, please visit our Awards page.
