Preparing for the Pandemic’s Impact on Your Pension Plan: Year 2

National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems [NCPERS]

May 4, 2021
On-Demand
Webinar

On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, NCPERS & Cheiron hosted a webinar - Preparing for the Pandemic's Impact on Your Pension Plan -- Year 2.

Despite investments rebounding in the latter part of 2020 from a disastrous 1st quarter, the ultimate impact of the global pandemic on public pension plans remains uncertain. Investment markets continue to be extremely volatile while economic activity has been sharply reduced as many of us stay at home. Contributing to public pension plans may become a lower priority for state and local governments as they seek to limit the spread of COVID-19, treat the infected, and protect vulnerable populations. What should public pension plans expect in this environment, and how can they best position themselves both during the pandemic and as the economy recovers?

This webinar explored the varying impacts on pension plans including some of the non-asset events, such as surges in retirement applications, layoffs and furloughs, mortality experience and early retirement windows.
