Health Plan Transparency: Group Health Costs and Mental Health Compliance

American Bar Association Joint Committee on Employee Benefits [JCEB]

Sept. 13, 2022
Recorded Online
Webinar

Final federal healthcare transparency rules require group health plans to disclose cost information upon request by a participant, beneficiary, enrollee, or authorized representative through a self-service tool internet website. Under the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), plan sponsors and insurers are also required to comply with new reporting requirements to provide the government information on health care and prescription drug spend by December 27, 2022. Further under the CAA, group health plans and insurers are compelled to provide a comparative analysis of mental health/substance use disorders, medical/surgical benefits, and any nonquantitative treatment limits that apply under the plan. Our subject matter experts will examine how to comply with these requirements and discuss the areas in need of additional guidance from the federal agencies.
