SECURE 2.0 Key Provisions for Employer-Sponsored Retirement Plans: How They Impact Plan Documentation and Operations

Trucker Huss

Feb. 9, 2023
On-Demand
Webinar

SECURE 2.0 was signed into law by President Biden on December 29, 2022, as part of the 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act, a $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill.  It is the culmination of a multi-year, bipartisan effort to build on the helpful changes enacted under SECURE 1.0.  The new law seeks to expand retirement plan coverage and provide for opportunities to increase savings, while facilitating plan operations and compliance with applicable rules and guidance.  To that end, SECURE 2.0 includes more than 90 substantive changes to existing law.

This webinar is presented in two parts:

PART I on February 9th will focus on the key provisions of SECURE 2.0 that impact large and medium-size plan sponsors, highlighting the relevant effective dates and differentiating among the changes that apply only to defined contribution plans or only to defined benefit plans, and the changes that apply to both.

PART II on February 14th will focus on how SECURE 2.0 impacts the correction of compliance failures and the methods by which — in light of the new law — plan operations might be revised to avoid defects before they occur.

Both webinar sessions will provide attendees with the opportunity to ask questions in real time, to be addressed by the panelists either during the session, time permitting, or in follow-up communications.

We look forward to speaking with you on February 9th and 14th.
