Keeping Up with SECURE 2.0: Guidance on New Requirements and ChoicesWorldwide Employee Benefits Network [WEB] |
May 23, 2024 On-Demand Webinar |
SECURE 2.0 implemented the most comprehensive changes to employee benefits law since the Pension Protection Act of 2006. The IRS has given plan sponsors an additional year to adopt conforming plan amendments, but operational compliance is already required for some of the new provisions. In this program, a panel from Buck will discuss guidance that has been provided on SECURE 2.0 and provisions that are already in effect or will be effective in 2025. These include requirements to cover long-term part-time employees and mandatory auto-enrollment and auto-escalation for new plans and options to provide emergency savings accounts. Speakers: Gary Walsh, Director in the Compliance Consulting Practice at Buck Global, LLC. Gary Walsh works with clients on a wide range of issues involving employee benefit plans and programs. Previously, Gary spent 30 years as in-house counsel for a large multinational corporation where he was responsible for Internal Revenue Code and ERISA matters relating to the design, administration and compliance of retirement, health and welfare, and executive compensation plans. Fred Farkash’s responsibilities include consulting with clients concerning both retirement, and health and welfare plans. Fred’s special areas of expertise include plan document drafting, the development of administrative processes and procedures, drafting and reviewing benefit plan communications, IRS compliance testing, minimum distribution rules, reviewing qualified domestic relations orders, and the correction of operational errors. Jane Lee is a compliance leader managing a team providing consulting services to the sponsors, administrators and fiduciaries of employee benefit programs including advice on plan mergers, spinoffs and terminations, plan/fiduciary committee governance, plan administration, plan corrections and audits (self-audits as well as agency audits), plan drafting and restatements and government filings and follow-up. Jane has a wide breadth of experience in employee benefit plans and policies, with a particular focus on the design, administration and governance of qualified and non-qualified plans and severance plans. |
