Program Speaker: Preston Rutledge, Founder and Principal, Rutledge Policy Group Preston Rutledge is Founder and Principal of the Rutledge Policy Group, a government affairs consultancy focused on tax, retirement savings, insurance and employee benefits policy. He previously served as the Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), where he guided private retirement, health and workplace benefits policy under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Before joining the Department of Labor, he served as Senior Tax and Benefits counsel on the Majority Tax Staff of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee where he led the drafting of the Committee’s primary retirement initiatives, including the Secure Annuities for Employee (SAFE) Retirement Act and the Retirement Enhancement and Savings Act (RESA), which later became the SECURE Act. Prior to working on Capital Hill, Mr. Rutledge served on the headquarters staff of the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division of the Internal Revenue Service, and in the Qualified Pension Plans Branch of the IRS Office of Chief Counsel. Earlier he worked in private law practice as an employee benefits counselor and ERISA litigator. Program Moderator: Allison Wielobob, General Counsel, American Retirement Association. Allison has worked with a broad range of retirement security issues -- both in government and in private practice. She served as a legislation counsel for the Joint Committee on Taxation of the U.S. Congress and was on the staff of the Office of Regulations and Interpretations of the Employee Benefits Security Administration. After leaving the Labor Department, Allison worked at Eversheds Sutherland LLP. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. |
