Preston Rutledge is Founder and Principal of the Rutledge Policy Group, a government affairs consultancy focused on tax, retirement savings, insurance and employee benefits policy. He previously served as the Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), where he guided private retirement, health and workplace benefits policy under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Before joining the Department of Labor, he served as Senior Tax and Benefits counsel on the Majority Tax Staff of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee where he led the drafting of the Committee’s primary retirement initiatives, including the Secure Annuities for Employee (SAFE) Retirement Act and the Retirement Enhancement and Savings Act (RESA), which later became the SECURE Act. Prior to working on Capital Hill, Mr. Rutledge served on the headquarters staff of the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division of the Internal Revenue Service, and in the Qualified Pension Plans Branch of the IRS Office of Chief Counsel. Earlier he worked in private law practice as an employee benefits counselor and ERISA litigator.

Program Moderator: Allison Wielobob, General Counsel, American Retirement Association.
