Webinar

In our "Back to Basics – Mental Health Parity" webinar, we will cover the fundamentals of this complicated topic. The mental health parity rules require plans that offer both medical or surgical benefits and mental health or substance use disorder benefits to offer those benefits in parity.  The webinar will begin with an overview of the laws and regulations that make up the mental health parity requirements. We will discuss which plans are subject to the rules and when exemptions apply. The bulk of the webinar will focus on the specific parity requirements, including the details around financial requirements, quantitative treatment limitations, and nonquantitative treatment limitations. We will also cover reporting requirements and warning signs that a plan might not be in compliance.

Objectives:

  • Understand the basic mental health parity requirements
  • Learn how to assess whether financial requirements and treatment limitations are in compliance
  • Gain knowledge about the reporting requirements, including the required comparative analysis report
  • Explore application of the rules through examples
  • Understand the warning signs of noncompliant plans
