Cross-tested plans continue to grow as a popular plan design. To accommodate different employer situations, it is essential that practitioners not only understand how to test the plans, but also how to design such plans and how to troubleshoot the plans when they fail. In this workshop, we will use practical examples to help you obtain the skills to make your cross-tested plan practice grow.

• Design a more flexible plan using family members.
• Convert a contribution rate to a benefit rate.
• Allocate and test a contribution under cross-tested plan.
• Design a combination cross-tested and safe harbor 401(k) plan. 
• Compare a cross-tested plan with a DB/DC “combo” plan.
• Use an 11(g) amendment to troubleshoot a failing cross-tested plan.
• Review other design and testing alternatives.
