Coal Miners Lose Health Benefits in Bankruptcy

Aug. 18, 2004 Excerpt: The nation's fourth-largest coal company is in bankruptcy court, leaving thousands of mines without health insurance. The judge in the case has ruled that the company isn't liable for health care benefits for 1,000 active miners and more than 2,000 retirees.
