I believe I know the answer, but I wanted to confirm:

For a Profit Sharing Plan for the RMD to be taken in 2022, we obviously use the 12/31/21 Balance.  If a receivable is made in '22 for the 2021 Plan Year is that included in the balance used for the calculation?

Thanks in advance!

Actually, IMHO, this is optional. The older regulations (from whatever years, I can't remember off the top of my head - maybe late 80's and early 2000's) required that these amounts be included. But now see 1.401(a)(9)-5, Q&A 3(b).

Possible that your plan language will specify, but most of them probably just refer to the regs, or actually use that specific language from the Q&A referenced above.

I don't know whether there's a lot of consistency on which method is used.

Riley - completely off-topic, but rough start for the Yankees. They are perfectly capable of taking 4 out of 5, but Houston is tough. As a Red Sox fan, I'm unable to seriously root for the Yankees without holding my nose, but I confess to being an Aaron Judge fan. From anything I've seen or heard, what's not to like? Handles himself with class, and doesn't engage in the childish stupidity which runs rampant on the baseball diamond these days. He's cast in the Derek Jeter mode. Of course, maybe he'll come to Boston as a free agent... which would be appropriate revenge for the Babe Ruth trade.

Belgrath - surprised they got past Cleveland. The Yankees need to get younger and their pitching isn't great. Cashman needs to go. Boone can only work with what he's given. I love Judge and agree he reminds us of Jeter.  I love Rhode Island/Maine/Mass. but cannot get behind the Sox (Red or White!)  :):)

Two solid starters in Cole and Tailon, cultivated from their minor league franchise in Pittsburgh! (and pains me to say that being a Pirates fan, but acknowledge the truth and jealous of those who aren't looking ahead to fantasy football come Memorial Day!)

Sorry you got swept by those cheating Astros - not sorry! At least the Dodgers didn't make the WS and I can officially say I have no interest. Could have gotten behind the Padres, but that wasn't to be. So for half of the MLB teams that are relevant, there's always next year.

Getting younger is needed. But the Yankee had the 3rd best pitching staff in MLB this year. I'm not sure how that's "not great". The problem was they found was to lose 3 winnable games against the Astros while the Astros found a way to win all 3 of those games.

Back to the topic, if the contributions are required like a money purchase plan I think you have to accrue them in, if they are optional like a profit sharing contribution I think you can treat is as cash basis.

Re. pitching: The invisible man Luis Severino is always injured and a poor post-season performer//Garrett Cole is overrated//Jamison Taillon - they gave up 4 young players to attaing him and he's an aging surgically repaired retread//They need to change their pitching philosophy by developing a staff of sinker/slider pitchers in their minor league system and stop trading them away!
